A book built on Sundays

Kelly Lundberg’s personal branding work helps entrepreneurs and business owners think about how they present themselves and what they want to be known for. With Deseed the Lemon, she wanted to put her approach into readers’ hands.

Making room for the writing took a firm decision. Kelly set aside Sundays for five months, protecting the time from the demands of her working week. With a clear chapter plan and manageable writing goals, she completed her first draft before a family holiday.

From manuscript to launch

The draft was followed by editing, questions to resolve and chapters to develop. WBR supported the book’s editorial and production work, alongside marketing content for the launch and beyond.

Kelly chose to self-publish, valuing the control it gave her and the opportunity to get the message out sooner. As publication approached, she worked backwards from launch day with her publishing consultants on copy, emails and social content. Her own team created the book website and began gathering interest in pre-orders.

Celebrating in Dubai and beyond

For the launch, Kelly wanted people further afield to be part of the occasion. She hosted 30 guests at a Dubai recording studio, with others joining remotely from around the world.

Within 48 hours, the book had become an Amazon bestseller. In her account shortly after launch, Kelly reported hundreds of copies sold. The Sundays spent writing had become a book readers were buying and sharing.

A first book that led to a second

Deseed the Lemon became part of Kelly’s wider personal branding business, giving readers a way to explore her thinking alongside her speaking and client work.

The business impact of that first book helped her decide to write another. Kelly’s second book is now in production with WBR, building on the experience of bringing Deseed the Lemon to readers.

What started with protecting Sundays for writing has become an ongoing investment in her work as an author. Having seen what the first book could contribute to her business, Kelly is creating the next one.
